About Westmere Electrician
We are a New Zealand owned and operated electrical company and have been doing electrical work across Auckland since 2009, for householders and for businesses. Most of our days are spent in the west and central suburbs, and Westmere sits where the two meet, between Point Chevalier and Herne Bay. Every electrician we send is registered, and the prescribed work they complete is tested and certified. Talk to an electrician about your Westmere home

Why call us about a Westmere home
Much of Westmere was subdivided in the 1920s. The Westmere Estate went on sale in 1923, the first houses were mostly Californian bungalows built for workers and tradespeople, and scattered state housing followed in the late 1930s. Houses of that age were never wired for the number of appliances a household runs today, and most have since been extended, renovated and partly rewired, often more than once. What is behind the linings rarely matches the labels on the switchboard, so we find out what is really there before any work is planned.
The other half of good electrical work is the record it leaves. Prescribed electrical work we complete is tested, and you receive the certificate that applies to it, which insurers and buyers may ask to see. Where the law calls for an independent inspection, we can arrange a licensed electrical inspector.

Are you based in Westmere?
No, and we would rather say so. We are an Auckland electrical company that serves Westmere along with Herne Bay, Grey Lynn, Point Chevalier, Ponsonby and the rest of Auckland, the North Shore included. Most of our work is in the west and central suburbs, which puts the peninsula well inside our usual patch.
Do you work on shops and offices as well as houses?
Yes. We do commercial electrical work as well as residential, so a shop, cafe or office near the Westmere shops on Garnet Road can call us as readily as a householder can.
Can you arrange an electrical inspection?
Yes. We can arrange a licensed electrical inspector when one is needed. Some work must be inspected by law: the Electrical Workers Registration Board explains which electrical work is high-risk and needs an inspection, and installing a higher-capacity main switchboard is one example.
What paperwork will I get?
When we finish prescribed electrical work it is tested, and you receive the certificate that applies to it, usually a Certificate of Compliance for new or altered fixed wiring. Keep it with your house papers, because an insurer or a buyer may want to see it.
Do you repair hot water cylinders?
We repair the electrical side of a hot water cylinder, such as a failed element, thermostat or supply. If the cylinder itself or its plumbing needs work, we will also provide a fully insured and qualified plumber, so you are not left arranging two trades.
